General Info

For these events, the volunteers are role players/actors that are given different and/or multiple roles relational to the specific training scenario in order to give the training events more realism with respect to the ongoing events in the world for which our units must train. Examples of the various types of roles that are possible with any given training scenario are as follows:, Townspeople/villagers, town militia/guerrillas, terrorists, protestors/rioters, injured personnel, personnel seeking evacuation, shopkeepers, taxi driver, etc, or just curious onlookers.

Volunteers are not limited to only military, government civilians, or dependants, so spread the word in the community! This will be a fantastic chance for you to play a vital role in helping to train first class units for real world urban operations, show some patriotism, do your part for “the cause”, and have some fun! We can’t do it without your help!!!

Role player volunteers will need to report to the site each of the designated days for briefings, paperwork requirements, and issue of safety gear, costuming, props, etc. Uniform for volunteers is civilian clothes; long pants and shirts, sturdy shoes w/ socks (no open-back or open-toed shoes). Consider the time of year and the weather and dress accordingly. Layers are always recommended for the weather variations. Minimize the wear of jewelry. It is recommended that you not carry a wallet (lock it up in your car). Please feel free to bring backpacks or tote bags with snacks, drinks, etc. if you would like. You will be able to keep these co-located with you during the events. Snacks and drinks are provided free of charge as well.

ABSOLUTELY NO PERSONAL WEAPONS OR PHOTOGRAPHIC/VIDEO EQUIPMENT (INCLUDING CELL PHONE CAMERAS) OF ANY KIND ARE ALLOWED.

As a norm, schedules are published monthly via email distribution lists, KNOXINFO, The Turret, and the Fort Knox web site. Please consider joining the volunteer role player group and help support our training initiatives. Interested personnel should call the Zussman Urban Combat Training Center at (502) 624-6194. The access rosters for each event are developed from the RSVPs. In addition, an email distribution list is maintained enabling the volunteers to be notified via e-mail of any changes or additional pertinent information and to receive future event notices.
