PITTSBURGH (AP) — Federal authorities say fighter jets escorted a small plane to an airport after it accidentally entered airspace that had been restricted due to the Group of 20 economic summit in Pittsburgh.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the single-engine plane was intercepted 15 miles south of Pittsburgh.

The Secret Service says federal investigators interviewed the pilot. Agents determined he had incorrect information on when the airspace was closed and was not a threat.

Lt. Col. Andy Roake (ROHK) says the plane entered the restricted area at about 12:45 p.m. Friday. Two F-15s escorted the plane to Wheeling-Ohio County Airport in West Virginia, about 40 miles southwest of the city.
